Pulman Recreation Centre is also the home of Counties Manukau Gymnastics. National and international level athletes and coaches train in the Centre. It has proudly hosted many national and international events and activities.
WOMENS AND MEN ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS
We provide a wide range of Artistic (Men’s and Women’s) classes – recreational programmes, STEPs national program, Levels programme, and Elite programme. Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) is an exciting Olympic sport on six different apparatus; Floor, Pommel, Rings, Vault, Parallel bars, and Horizontal bar. Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) involves four apparatus; Vault, Uneven Bars, Beam, and Floor
RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS
Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG) is a beautiful sport combining gymnastics and dance using hand apparatus; Rope, Hoop, Ball, Clubs, and Ribbon. At its highest level, rhythmic gymnastics requires body-eye co-ordination, grace, elegance, flexibility, strength, and musicality. Pulman Recreation Centre offers a pathway for competitive rhythmic gymnastics. Gymnasts who show the potential to move through the New Zealand National Levels or International Development Programmes are invited by the RG Head Coach to join the competitive programme. Entry into the programme depends on several factors including age, previous dance or gymnastic experience, and ability levels.
TRAMPOLINE AND TUMBLING
Competitive Trampoline is an exciting performance of explosive aerial skills with grace and precision. Gymnasts also train to compete on the double-mini trampoline. Routines consist of different form elements of twists and somersaults. In the competitive Tumbling programme, gymnasts perform skills and link them together to compete two passes of skills series consisting of twists and somersaults, on a sprung track.
Gymnastics programmes operate during the Primary and Intermediate School terms. Registrations open prior to the start of each term. To ensure quality and safety, class numbers are limited and places are on a ‘first come first serve’ basis. Be sure to enrol early to secure a place.
