Situated on the Porchester Rd (Gate C) side of Bruce Pulman Park the brand new 3X3 Basketball Court officially opened on 25 November 2018.

About four years ago Glen Green of ‘There’s A Better Way Foundation’ contacted Bruce Pulman to look at an option of putting a 3X3 Basketball Court on the Park.  There’s A Better Way Foundation has worked alongside The Bruce Pulman Park Trust to make the dream come alive.  

The court is a formidable landmark and is NZ’s first professional 3X3 outdoor court.  The facility is part of a global roll out and ‘There’s A Better Way Foundation’ have been working closely with Basketball NZ to deliver the sport on the world stage.

​​​​​​​WHAT IS 3X3 BASKETBALL?

Teams of 3 play on one half of a full-size basketball court and shoot into the same hoop.  There is a 12 second shot clock, and points are scored differently to a normal game, instead of 3 pointers, there are 2 pointers and only 1 point for inside the shooting circle.  The ball size is smaller too.  3 on 3 basketball is the fastest growing sport in the world and has recently made it into the Olympics.
